I recorded this using my small sony cybershot camera. You'll notice that the wind goes from loud to soft to loud again, repeating. This because i am opening the window wide and then after a few seconds i close the window but not completely so that i get some low whistling sounds from the wind. I recorded for 18 minutes and i used audacity to edit it. Hope this sound is useful for you!.

My window air-conditioner on the fan setting. Fan turns on for a few secs and shuts off. Recorded on yeti usb microphone on the stereo setting. Microphone was placed about 6 inches from the unit, right below the top vents where the air comes out. Some very low frequency rumble was attenuated slightly.

Two sustained voice samples i subsequently pitch shifted and layered for an ambient work (to achieve an 80's choir pad effect). The key is almost in middle c, but slightly off. . . Because i can't sing. The second, lower voice sample was recorded extremely close to the mic to achieve clipping; i wanted to get a buzzy, boomy sound out of it.

It sounds like a the last few strokes of a saw going into a rusted metal pipe with water on the inside. It's actually the sound of pulling closed my sink stopper. . . Go figure. This ambience was recorded on zoom h6 with msh-6 mid-side stereo mic capsule. Recording was edited and decoded. Mic was positioned right in a frame of an open window so that it won't get flood from a heavy rain and pick up much room reflections. My flat where i recorded from was on 4th floor. There was a busy street 50m far from the apartment building itself, a bit further there was a park. Rain at that night was heavy. Also you can hear several heavy thunder hits of various distance throughout the whole recording. Hope this recording will help to enhance the sound of your next project. The soundscape of a thunderstorm that passed over berlin in 2012, recorded from my backyard window with a little earplug stereo mic that a friend once made for me - a dummy head. The heavy rain was followed by thunder, then transforms into softer rain that lets you hear faint city sounds like cars, doors closing, someone using a screwdriver, voices, the bells of a nearby church, airplanes and birds. There's so much to hear, i couldn't stop recording. I only took out some little peaks caused by the movement of my ear.

Thunderstorm, late night with rain falling on a quiet urban neighborhood side street of a large u. S. City. 4:30. The rain decreases over the recording. Good bits of distant thunder. Distant sirens in the last half of the recording. Some distant traffic noise, and a couple of cars passing close. I didn't notice until afterwards that i had the recorder set in mp3 format. Given another chance i'd redo as a 48/24 wav, but it doesn't rain all that often here, and the quality on this recording is still very good, 192kbps. Zoom h4n - mp3 - 44. 1/16.

It was time to mow the lawn, and it was a beautiful day for mowing. 80 degrees and sunny. Not much breeze at all. For the production: i took the zoom h1 out and set it by the porch about 2 feet up off the ground. Recorded at 96k 24bit. The low cut and agc were disabled. Once recorded, i finished it off with a small amount of airwindows "air" with the 22k tap opened all the way up. For the mower: i used a 21 inch 140 cc "550ex" series briggs & stratton gas walk behind push mower. When i finished mowing my yard, i approached the recorder up to about 2 feet, then i cut the engine. I start it again and let it idle in close proximity for about 8 seconds, still at a distance of about 2 feet, then cut the engine one last time. I'm sure this could potentially come in handy for those outdoor scenes where you could use some distant neighborhood activity or a close-up start/stop. Enjoy!.

Recording of some new year's celebrations in vienna. Captured using a clippy stereo em172 microphone and a zoom h5 handheld recorder. I positioned the microphone capsules outside the window on the left and right and then gently (almost) closed it. I setup the recorder and rolled the whole evening. This bit was around the apex of the celebrations in that part of town. Sadly some clipping occured, but i chose to upload the unaltered file. So no post-processing has been applied. Cut in ocenaudio. A recording of my mini-fridge that i split into two components - the hum (this) and the evaporator thing that makes all the drippy sounds. I separated them so people can change the volume of each element, since i noticed with my fridge that you can only really hear the hum if you're really close, but hear the drippy sounds from quite a distance away, even if they're really quiet. Recorded with a zoom h4n pro, used rx7 to separate the elements. As always, i've got the un-modified loop in my "raw recordings" pack.

Found a big bush covered in white flowers with loads of bees buzzing all over it. Some good buzz noises here but unfortunately quite a bit of mic handling noise and the sound of the leaves brushing against the mic as i pushed it in close to try and stir up the bees a bit. Luckily i didn't get stung!.

Tying shoelaces: a close-up listen to a very subtle sound when two pieces of string is being tied around each other. You can hear the fumbling of hands swooshing the string around each other and a harder sound of when the knot is being pulled so that it doesn't come loose. This is a foley recording i did for a cinematic nature documentary. In the scene you see lions pulling the guts out of a recently killed bison. As the sound assistant didn't want to get too close, i simulated the sound by mushing up a plate of lasagne in front of a pair of rode nt5's. Very suitable for zombie movies - have fun! :).

This is a 4 mic recording taken inside a pachinko parlor in akasaka, tokyo. There are so many loud machines and the background music is so loud that you can hardly make out individual sounds and the entire space is just a wash of noise. If you listen closely to this one you can hear some of the individual balls dropping. (when you play pachinko, you win metal balls which can be exchanged for cash later. ).

A dell dimension l600r being booted up and turned off. This will work nicely for those needing genuine sounds from an old computer. The mic was placed directly inside the computer's chassis with the side door closed. No noise-removal has been applied on this recording. Most of the sound in this recording comes from the maxtor hard drive, as well as the 3. 5 floppy drive, cpu fan, and psu fan. Also includes a post beep.

The microphones are facing across the street to the el tracks which cross diagonally across the block at this point. The curvature of the tracks causes the squeaking of the wheels. Trains heading into the loop (north) tend to travel more slowly than those heading south. Cars accumulate at the intersection of harrison and wabash to the south (left). Time of recording was 5:41pm. I needed a rattle-snake sound for a tracklay so recorded myself shaking my salt and pepper grinders. Considering i recorded this on a stereo mic in the bedroom of my two-bed flat, i think it came out pretty well!. This is the processed version, which has been through noise reduction and high-pass filtering (soft cut off begins somewhere around 200hz). Sound of balinese chimes recorded with tascam dr-60 d mkii linear recorder and pair of akg p120 electret condenser microphones on a stagg smc3 3m xlr cable. Knobs of sensitivity were turned in position of highest sensitivity. Microphones were configured as stereo pair and placed face to face in front of each other in distance of 75cm. Microphones placed on stands. Chimes was held in the hand between mics along the way of sight of them, with smallest bell on the side of right microphone. Recorded afternoon in a bedroom with closed door and windows in a house next to high street. Recorded in 96khz and 24bit. Trimmed and normalized in flstudio edison. Normalization made sample 32bit.

Recorded from my apartment, second floor. This starts with a few bolts of lightning during the end of a typical early summer afternoon and ends up on a pretty huge thunderstorm including hail. I wish i could have recorded more but the storm was getting so important, i had to close my window.

A drain after a water flow: the water seems to build up a physical-mechanic surface tension kept mass in the tube, opens and closes this bubble-entity producing a specific rhythm in the plughole resp. The drainage pipe. It pulses with various plops and splashs, starts off with a firework kind of beat but then one hears a differentiated rhythm of 4-strokes sequences with slugs before these etc. Getting slower. Many minutes later it ends (beyond this track). The (hearable) cut is just the censorship of a small abortive piece -- left in to document the recording as recording.

A door is trying to keep itself closed with a strong wind (very fast thanks to the mountain). You can notice the cracks: it's old, more than 30 years old. I left a wall clock running by mistake, but i think it can't be noticed. If you do and don't want it, i have another recording with it stopped (same name, number 2). Recorded with a zoom h4n. Quiet urban residential area in tokyo at about 2 am in the late summer (october, i think). You can hear far off traffic, some night insects and a drunk guy who came to close to my hidden mics to take a whiz. Excluding the peeing guy, quiet parts are perfect for looping (for ambient background sounds in video or audio works). The peeing guy might actually be useful, so i didn't cut it out. Faithfully recorded with a stereo mic pair placed at a 90 degree angle. The left-right balance was adjusted and the stereo field was expanded later to fix the lopsided sided flatness of the original recording. Other than that, the recording is unprocessed.

This sound field recording was made back in 2000 on a very late/early morning. I placed the sony microphone ontop of the car outside to record the crickets and cicadas. There were a lot of mosquitos out that hot night. One of them landed on the mic and actually bit the microphone. You have to listen close but the bug bites at about 14:28 and removes the mosquito blood sucker at about 34:28. A mid-summer recording of the shawnee national forest in illinois featuring the singing of two popular summer visitors: (1) indigo bunting and (2) white-eyed vireo. I really enjoy hearing these calls because, while beautiful in their own right, they also signify the soon-to-be summer coming to a close. Recording made on august 6, 2022 at about 2pm in a clearing surrounded byseveral dozen black walnut trees, and, beyond those, thick, midwestern, insect-laden summer woods. This is the variable mid/high pitch sound of a metal door not properly closed in my college, making a whistling sound. There are very light sounds of people passing and chatting by the door. I used this sound in a group project as part of a night wind sound in a dark forest. It is looping. Recorded with a tascam dr-40.

Compiled a number of different clips with background field sounds all recorded on a nikon d3200 dslr using windows moviemaker and then converting the sound track into wav format. Consist of walking to shed door in wellies(very poor sounds), opening shed door, rustle of taking apples out of plastic bag followed by chopping noises, closing of shed door then sniffing and chomping of apples by three horses.

Acc being thrown in water: this is a multi-purpose sound. Created by throwing an acc tablet into water, clear bubbles can be heard. A strong fizzing sound is very prominent. It sounds like champagne being poured if you would listen to it closely, or a fizzy drink, even champagne. The bubbly sound of this effect gives it it's character. Recorded with the zoom h6, rode ntg.

Recording of traditional sneaker with hard rubber sole stepping down on glasses on hardwood floor. Moderate room tone present. First takes are extremely near to glasses on floor, then followed by takes done about a meter away and at waist height. Glasses used were a pair of old metal framed earhook with polymer type prescription lens and an all plastic frame "blue light reducing" pair with plastic lens. Tabla is percussion instrument with two drums 'daya' and 'baya'. Only the 'daya' drum is usually tuned. For checking the tuning the 'na' bol is played. Recorded using samson-go portable condenser mike at home. Placing the mike too close to tabla was clipping the sound and if placed away, it was not picking the extended resonance. Hence the mike was moved closer after attack, hence the apparent increase in amplitude and some doppler effect is seen.

Used as part of an old time radio show live production. . . I used two toy ray guns and fired them at close range and distant range. . . Various rates of firing. . . As if in a "space patrol" ray-gun battle with aliens. . . 48 khz at 16 bit - using sony mini-disc recorder 2009 - interior.

This sound is piece of night atmosphere i recorded years ago with reel-to-reel nagra4 and mkh416. You can hear night ambience of large hangar with lot of silent insects flying directly to electronic trap light and burn in very close detail. Another detail sound comes from hiting the metal body of film light.

Skewer slam is a combination of my knife sharpening sounds and metallic impacts/wobblers (some not yet uploaded here!) to create a sesnsation of something big, intense and lethal coming towards whoever it either find offensive or is ambulatory. As a personal note; the distortion you hear is not because of clipping in the initial recording but because of the higher acoutistic resonance and limiters applied which will not sound like this when downloaded.
